What Makes Us Special

For more than 50 years, CDLC has been part of this community — a warm, faith-friendly place where children play, learn, and grow, and where families become part of something bigger. As a ministry of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, we’re proud to be woven into the life of this neighborhood, not just a school inside it.

A Community You Can Count On

  • 50+ years serving Burnsville families — generations of children have grown up here.
  • Part of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church — CDLC calls the church campus home.
  • Traditions the whole community looks forward to — the Carnival, Boo Bash, the Great ADVENTure, Eggstravaganza, and so much more throughout the year.
  • Summer camps that keep the fun going — including Vacation Bible School and Worship Arts Camp, which CDLC teams up with Prince of Peace’s Family Ministry to offer alongside our own summer programming.

Small, Personal, and Attentive

  • 1-to-10 teacher ratio — small class sizes mean your child is known, not just counted.
  • Curbside drop-off and pick-up — easy, safe, and quick for busy mornings.
  • Dedicated, experienced staff — many of our teachers have been with CDLC for years, building real relationships with the children and families they serve.

Accredited and Trusted

  • NAEYC Accredited — nationally recognized for meeting high standards in early childhood education.
  • 4-Star Parent Aware rated — Minnesota’s top quality rating for early learning programs.

A Well-Rounded Day

Intentional, play-based curriculum that prepares children for kindergarten and beyond.

  • STEM Room — Curiosity gets its own room! Children build, sort, measure, and experiment as they explore science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on play, asking lots of “I wonder what happens if…?” along the way. Every child is encouraged to try new things, solve problems, and celebrate their discoveries, building the confidence and critical thinking skills that carry them into kindergarten and beyond.
  • Music, Every Day — Woven right into classroom life, from singing and instruments to creative movement.
  • Life Explorers (Social-Emotional Learning) — Provided throughout the month, Ms. Essie talks with the kids about being a good friend, acceptance and love, empathy, and kindness, and how to handle feelings — even the uncomfortable ones — through imaginative play, books, songs, videos, puppets, and acting things out.
  • Movement with Max — Provided throughout the month, this inclusive physical education program gets little bodies moving and hearts pumping, building teamwork, gross motor skills, and confidence while welcoming every child to participate at their own level.
  • Teacher Expert Visits — Once a month, Ms. Sue — a former CDLC teacher who now volunteers at the Minnesota Zoo — visits as our teacher expert in science, stories, animals, and so much more.
  • Faith, Woven In Gently — Through teachable moments, Bible stories, and songs, in a way that welcomes every family, whatever their background.
